Public records, made public.
FOIATribune is a public-records transparency initiative. We submit Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and state open-records requests to government bodies, and we report on what those records show — in the public interest.
What we do
Government agencies are required by law to disclose public records on request. We act on behalf of media partners, non-profits, activists, and our readers when we send formal records requests to public bodies, track their responses, and publish findings so that citizens, journalists, and watchdogs can see how public institutions operate. All of our correspondence is sent to agencies in their official capacity.
About
FOIATribune is a joint project of the Association of Principled Press (PrincipledPress.org), Liberty Digital Holdings LLC, and legal services firm LegalSolved LLC, and operated by Edward “Coach” Weinhaus, who leads the program's public-records work. The program coordinates records requests, follow-up correspondence, and publication of responsive documents.
